THE SCHEME

Does my car Qualify?

If you can answer 'yes' to all the following questions your car may qualify for the scrappage scheme and you could be eligible for the £2,000 discount:-

Was your current car registered before 31 August 1999? ('T' reg or older.)
Has your car got a current MOT certificate?
Have you been the registered owner for more than 12 months?
Does your vehicle weigh less than 3.5 tonnes? (ie is it a car or small van?)
Is your car registered in the UK with the DVLA?

If you answer 'no' to any of these questions we can still offer you a great deal on a new or used car so you still have nothing to lose by contacting us.

What can I buy?

A number of manufacturers have signed up to take part in the scheme and others will follow. If a manufacturer takes part all their models have to be included within the scheme. A full list of all eligible manufacturers represented by Colliers is included at the end of this page.

For a new car purchase to qualify for the scheme, the following conditions have to be met:-

The new car has to be first registered as a new car in the UK.
The car has to be registered in the same name (registered keeper) as the car being scrapped. There is no minimum period of ownership for the new car.
You will need to consent to your old car being scrapped and to being contacted by the Government to take part in a survey regarding the scheme.
The scheme will run from mid-May to 31 March 2010 (or sooner if the government funding has been used before them). Cars need to be ordered before 31 March 2010 to be eligible providing funding is still available.
